I just found out about the existence of this newly dedicated site: netfx3. After blogging already about the renamed WinFX to .NET 3.0 framework name it seems Microsoft's dedicated to the new naming.

Alright so I have a question. So the .NET Framework 3.0 ships with Vista, in January, correct? What does that do for Visual Studio? A new version already? An add-in?

The next version of visual studio.net, code named Orcas for the moment, won't ship together with the new .NET 3.0 framework as far as I could found out in the comments and replies from the people from Microsoft. It's even so that C#3.0, with the new LINQ features among them, also won't ship with .NET 3.0. Actually 3.0 = 2.0 + WinFX. It's rather a marketing "trick" to not confuse companies. The .NET brand's already very well known and now companies can see: aha a newer version of .NET instead of: uh? .NET, WinFX, ... what to choose??
