On June 26th, community day 2008 was held in Keerbergen. Last year I couldn't make it so I really wanted to go this year. It was all thanks to the sponsors that this event could be held in the first place and it was fun to see so many familiar faces. Old colleagues, other MVPs, ...

I followed these 3 presentations: Entity Framework, new things in SQL Server 2008 and 10 greatest new additions to SQL Server 2008. During the first session I even won a book (Programming Microsoft LINQ) given by one of the sponsors of the event. Tip: it pays off to be a Star Wars fan when you get a question.

After all the sessions we still had some time to enjoy a dinner in company of our peers. Of course a lot was talked about community day, technology, ... during that time.

Yesterday I already downloaded FireFox 3 on my MacBook Pro and today on my PC. In the meantime I also downloaded and installed IE8 Beta. Both are working just fine for me.

I just tried to download Firefox 3 from their official site. However that seems to be down. Luckily one of my US buddies, Kevin Jones, knew another site where you can download the goods: http://mozilla.isohunt.com/firefox/releases/3.0/win32/.

I hope this also counts for the download marathon.

Just found out about this site: (http://www.hownerdyareyou.be/). It's a site to popularize jobs in IT in Belgium amongst youngsters so it's only available in Dutch and French.

Apparently I'm a NerdyPro and should be proud of it. Yes I am.

Last week I attended an interesting presentation about version control with Team Foundation Server. Yves Goeleven presented about the different patterns when it comes down to branching and merging.

If you're interested you can watch the presentation online divided in 3 different pieces (taken from Katriens blog):

Wow, someone has been busy. There just appeared 46 brand new AJAX Control Toolkit tutorials. They're nice and short to show specific topics and needs. Nicely done.

I used this site already before but then it only showed just plain links to blog articles or channel 9 videos. When I just took a look it was completely restyled. The Silverlight usage for the ticker looks pretty interesting but seems to lack content at the moment of writing.

Just found out about this little tool that seemed interesting to me: Kaxaml, a lightweight xamlpad alike tool. Apparently it's also free which is always a nice thing.

I found out about this tool by navigating around on the site of Blendables, a vendor of WPF controls. And I got to know about this particular site thanks to Gill.

Just found out about this site about security: Hellosecureworld. Take a look at it. It's in Silverlight (always a good reason to check something out) and it has comics (another good reason). What are you waiting for: click the link!
